HOLLYWOOD WEIGHT LOSS. DOES IT REALLY WORK?
Over the past weekend I watched a great video on Facebook. The name was, 3 Worst Foods for Digestion by Dr. Amy Lee. What if I told you that you could get your life back? Finally lose that pesky weight that wont come off. Obtain better health and start feeling good again. Today? This isn’t my work, but I did do the research to see what I found. The evidence is stacked in favor of these three little enzymes.I’m skeptical. Of course. That’s who I am.
As I continued to watch the video, everything she said made sense.
As y ’all know, I already have the mindset of healthy eating. BUT… what happens when our systems are so far out of whack, even it doesn’t know how to recover?
Simple. We find someone smarter than ourselves and learn from them.

First things first. Dr. Amy Lee provided three digestive enzymes we should ingest in order to assist our systems in making a quicker recovery.
They include: Amylase, Lipase and Bromelain.
So I did what I normally do. I ran to my trusty computer looking for answers. It has to be true, I read it on the internet … right? At least that’s what an insurance company would have us believe.
ANYWAY… back to the task on hand.
BUT, before we get started I have one caveat. She’s a doctor. I know she knows more than me. I’m just the nerdy analytical person that needs to understand HOW and WHY it works.
First Up: AMYLASE
Amylase is a naturally produced enzyme made by the pancreas. It’s extremely important enzymes which break down carbohydrates into simple sugar. Enzymes are involved in every aspect of our lives whether we realize it or not. A few benefits include: breathing, digestion, liver function and reproduction.
Now that I know what it does, l ’m ready to hear how it helps!!
Here we go, off to the World Wide Web for answers. Here’s what I found.

All of those are fantastic reasons to finally get our act together. And it all starts with proper chewing. According to Dr. Axe, chewing food the recommended 40 times per bite gives our bodies the ability to produce adequate amylase.
The main benefit here, proper digestion. The more work the mouth does, the less the digestive system has to.
A wonderful result of food not getting stuck in our gut, it’s less fattening!
I must say, number four caught my attention. It’s interesting to me that amylase is a natural cancer fighter. I’m not suggesting anyone kick cancer treatment, but what we are looking at are ways to prevent having cancer in the first place. (There are endless amounts of articles in which they discuss how processed foods along with chemical additives promote cancer.)
Interestingly enough, research indicates our ability to produce amylase decreases as we grow older. The result, we lose the ability to process foods we never had issues with before.
If you are over 30-35 you know, if you are under you certainly will learn it soon enough. Once you reach your 30s, keeping weight off will become very difficult.
Already we are making connections and getting smarter. Isn’t that exciting?
According to Dr. Axe there are four ways to get amylase. They include: raw fruits & veggies; sprouts, nuts, legumes and whole grain; royal jelly and finally supplements.
In the original video, the Dr. Lee is selling a supplement. What I want to know is, how can I get it on my own. Naturally. No pills.
Unfortunately, research indicates the majority of adults lack in this extremely important enzyme resulting in needed supplements.
Lipase is another pancreatic enzyme. It works to break down fat into fatty acid. By breaking down the fat, it helps to absorb it into our system. Lipase can even aid in digestive disorders like Celiac disease and Cystic Fibrosis.
Once again, Dr. Axe to the rescue. According to his webpage titled, Lipase: the Digestive Enzyme that Fights Major Diseases, there are seven health benefits.

While it is unlikely all the symptoms apply, there are a couple we can focus on in our never ending quest for better health. For this article, let’s focus on IBS, Celiac disease, nutrient absorption & weight loss.
I was intrigued to find a lack of Lipase specifically can cause diarrhea and abdominal pain. In Dr. Lee’s video, she did indicate diarrhea or constipation, I just didn’t realize it could be pinned on one enzyme.
That alone is enough for me to NEED to know how I can either eat the enzyme or, as a last resort, buy it. After all, according to the good doctor it is essential especially when consuming a fatty meal.
However, a fatty meal isn’t the only reason to lean on Lipase. Perhaps you think, I eat healthy. Even so, without the proper amount of Lipase, our bodies are unable to absorb the necessary vitamins and minerals we consumed.
According to Dr. Axe’s research, Lipase can increase fat digestion by 15 to 45 percent!
Being a bit of a Pollyanna, I looking for a silver lining. Here it is, foods which contain Lipase include: avocado, walnuts, pine nuts, coconuts, lentils, chickpeas, oats and egg plants.
When in doubt, there are always supplements.
If symptoms include: high cholesterol, high triglycerides, difficulty losing weight and diabetes you may have reduced levels. Another common symptom is muscle spasms, which differs from muscle cramps. Relief can also be found if spastic colon is an issue.
Well, well, well. Bromelain is primarily found in pineapple. Uses include swelling in the nose & sinuses. It’s even used following surgery. Additionally, bromelain has been found to be effective in healing the gastrointestinal tract.
Anytime someone in my family even hints at a sore throat I throw Pineapple Juice at em.’ Not because I had any incline of Bromelain, but because of the acid!
Sure when you drink it, it burns. But that is what you want. The acid kills the virus and cuts two days off the duration of the sickness. I’ll let you decide, but my family NEVER sees the doctor for a sore throat.
Back to business!
Bromelain’s Health Benefits
This little devil of an enzyme helps to reduce inflammatory conditions! If you have arthritis or any other condition, this one is for you. According to Steve Goodman in Life Extension Magazine, Bromelain’s inefficiencies exceed that of pharmaceuticals to relieve pain and inflammation.
I must admit, I didn’t expect this to take me into mental health and osteoarthritis!
Bromelain has been proven to significantly improve both. Arthritis patients experience improved flexibility, less swelling and reduced inflammation.
Not too shabby.
This is too interesting to skip. Patience take Bromelain following surgery to assist in elevating pain!! Who knew those cute little fruits packed such a punch! Studies even showed a reduced dependence on pain medication!!
Cancer is on the forefront of this tasty enzyme! While the subject is still being researched, there is valuable data that indicates Bromelain’s anti-inflammatory agents help fight cancer.
We can reduce our chances of cancer, simply by eating healthy.
As a point of interest, I do want to say, eating pineapple for Bromelain, for a therapeutic result, simply cannot be done from consumption. Unfortunately my friends, requires supplements.
Unfortunately, if you are allergic to pineapple, it’s a NO GO!

Pulling it All Together
Now that we know what we need to get healthy, let’s consider how we can consume the necessary amounts of each enzyme. Therefore, from what I’ve gathered, the three enzymes work best when taken together.
If you are inclined to give these three enzymes a try, my recommendation would be to try vegetarian product. If not the animal could have been given growth hormones or steroids.
The mainstream media, nor corporations, will not tell us how to get healthy. It’s up to us to put in the work. Do the research. Find the answers for ourselves.
Time and time again big pharma sells us the dream. And we follow along.
Waiting for the magic pill that will make America skinny while chowing down hamburgers and fries.
All we need to do is deprive ourselves temporarily, shove chemicals down our throat and poof. We’re thin.
But what about when the pills are gone. When reality sets in and life gets hectic once more. We have to do better. It’s time to exit the roller coaster.
What we really need is to understand our food chain. Where it comes from and what cutting corners means to our health and waist lines. Until we understand what is really making us fat, we are helpless. Once we understand the biology, then we can address it and make life long changes. Changes that will not only sustain a trimmer waistline, but healthier lives.
